What is in the template

The template has two groups of columns. The first describes the trade the way MetaTrader exports it, so the file can later be imported into a journal; the second holds the ICT context that no broker records.

  • Trade: Ticket, Open Time, Close Time, Symbol, Type (buy or sell), Volume, Open Price, Close Price, S / L, T / P, Commission, Swap and Profit.
  • ICT context: Kill Zone, HTF Bias, Setup (Order Block, FVG, Breaker, liquidity sweep…), PD Array, Liquidity Taken, Planned R:R, R Multiple, Followed Plan, Emotion, Mistake, Notes and Screenshot.

Three example rows show how a filled line looks — delete them before you start. The Google Sheets version calculates the R Multiple from Open Price, Close Price and S / L, so you never type it by hand.

How to open it

  1. Google Sheets: File → Import → Upload, choose the Google Sheets CSV and "Replace spreadsheet" or "Insert new sheet". The comma separator is detected automatically and the formulas start working.
  2. Excel: Data → From Text/CSV, pick the plain CSV and confirm the comma delimiter. In locales with a decimal comma, check that prices were read as numbers.
  3. Numbers or LibreOffice: open the plain CSV directly.

How to fill it in

Log a trade as soon as it closes, while you still remember why you took it. Write times in UTC or in your broker's server time — but always the same one, or Kill Zones and calendar days will not line up. Record the stop you actually had in the market, not the one you wish you had, because the R multiple is only as honest as the stop. Keep Followed Plan to a plain Y or N; it becomes the most useful column after a month.

From a spreadsheet to a journal

The trade columns use MetaTrader's names, so when you outgrow the spreadsheet you can upload the file in the Import page of the free LSG Club journal: it reads the trade columns, sets each trade's Kill Zone from its time and skips duplicates. The ICT columns are yours to re-enter as setups and notes. What the journal adds is what a sheet cannot do — every trade on a real chart and a report of which habit costs you money. Read why in the ICT trading journal template guide.

Frequently asked questions

Is the template free to use?

Yes. Download it, change the columns and share it; no sign-up is needed.

Why CSV and not an .xlsx file?

CSV opens everywhere — Google Sheets, Excel, Numbers, LibreOffice — and imports into trading journals. Formatting can be added after opening.

Can I import the filled template into LSG Club?

Yes. The trade columns follow MetaTrader's export names, so Import → CSV in the journal reads them. Rows need Type set to buy or sell; the ICT columns are not imported.
