NAS100 trading hours
NAS100 is the usual broker name for a CFD on the Nasdaq-100, the index of the 100 largest non-financial companies listed on the Nasdaq exchange. The cash index trades 09:30–16:00 New York, Monday to Friday. Nasdaq-100 futures on CME Globex trade almost around the clock, Sunday to Friday 18:00–17:00 New York with a one-hour break from 17:00, and most CFDs follow the futures. So NAS100 moves overnight, but the real volume arrives with the US data at 08:30 and the cash open at 09:30.
| Window | New York time | What usually happens |
|---|---|---|
| Asian Kill Zone | 20:00–00:00 | Futures trade on light volume, reacting to Asia or late earnings |
| London Kill Zone | 02:00–05:00 | Europe opens; the overnight high or low is often set here |
| New York AM Kill Zone | 07:00–10:00 | US data at 08:30 and the cash open at 09:30; usually the most volatile stretch |
| Cash open | 09:30 | Nasdaq opening cross; the first half hour is often the widest of the day |
| London Close Kill Zone | 10:00–12:00 | 10:00 data; the opening move often extends or reverses |
| FOMC days | 14:00 and 14:30 | Statement, then press conference; eight times a year |
| Cash close | 16:00 | Closing cross; many large companies report earnings soon after |
| Futures daily break | 17:00–18:00 | Globex pauses; CFD prices may stop or gap at the reopen |
News that moves the Nasdaq
- US CPI, the jobs report, retail sales and PPI — 08:30, an hour before the cash open.
- ISM services and manufacturing surveys and consumer sentiment — 10:00.
- FOMC — statement at 14:00, press conference at 14:30; the index can change direction more than once in that half hour.
- Earnings from the largest index members — before 09:30 or after 16:00, so the reaction often shows up as an overnight gap in the futures.
What drives the index
The Nasdaq-100 is weighted by market value and heavily concentrated: a handful of the biggest technology companies make up a large share of it, so their results and guidance can move the whole index. Growth companies are valued on profits expected far in the future, which makes the index sensitive to bond yields — higher yields reduce what those future profits are worth today. Broader risk appetite, chip-sector news and the dollar complete the picture. These are reasons the index reacts, not predictions of its next move.
Trading NAS100 sessions the ICT way
Index traders who follow ICT usually pay little attention to the overnight drift and concentrate on New York: the 08:30 data, the 09:30 open and ICT's AM Silver Bullet window from 10:00 to 11:00. The lunch hour around midday is often skipped, and some come back for the afternoon and the PM Silver Bullet from 14:00 to 15:00. Many start from a daily bias on the higher timeframes and compare the Nasdaq with the S&P 500 for divergence. Put the windows on your clock with the Kill Zone converter, and because NAS100 point values differ between brokers, check the lot with the NAS100 position size calculator.
Frequently asked questions
What time does NAS100 open?
The cash Nasdaq-100 opens at 09:30 New York time and closes at 16:00. The futures, which most NAS100 CFDs track, trade nearly 24 hours from Sunday 18:00 to Friday 17:00 New York, with a daily break from 17:00 to 18:00.
Why does NAS100 gap overnight?
Large companies report earnings outside cash hours and the futures react straight away. If your broker pauses the CFD during the daily break, the price can also jump when it reopens.
Does the club AI publish NAS100 levels here?
No. Only the public session text — the headline and summary of the plan — appears here, after the session has opened. It is the club's AI reading of the chart, not a signal, and it has no levels.
